Fractals Not An Aurora Rhapsody Short Story eBook G S Jennsen Reviews

  • In Fractals, G. S. Jennsen uses alternate worlds to explore different possibilities while still sticking with some of her core characters and world building concepts but does so in such a way as to give future plot possibilities a vivid shot in the arm. Alexis Solovy and Caleb Marano, prime movers in other books in the Aurora Rhapsody story line, inhabit personas with some details mildly different but inwardly remain much the same. In Fractals, Alexis is captain of an Earth Alliance warship undertaking a deep space exploration mission tasked with chasing down the origin of strange signals coming out of an obscure corner of deep space. Assigned to her ship as technical support to babysit all the high tech surveillance gear is a civilian specialist, Caleb Marano. Of course the sparks fly between them but Jennsen handles it with aplomb using romantic interludes that serve to spice the meal not as the main course. Our erstwhile duo make first contact, quickly biting off more they they can chew and taking the bull by the horns they determine to chase the aliens down to learn more and possibly save humanity from oblivion. A short story but the author's succinct writing packs a lot into a short stretch and lays out a well fleshed world this reader is looking forward to learning more of.
  • I really love this author. She takes me into the science of science fiction into a unique way she makes it understandable. This delightful short story explores the concept of fate. When two people are designed to meet, no manipulation of the data is able to interfere. Read it. You'll like it.
  • It is impossible to write a substantive review of a true story story without a major spoiler. However, that said, for those familiar with the Aurora Rhapsody universe, this story is a "must read". The main characters of the original universe are present but the underlying story contains a twist that will send chills down your spine as it did mine! Enjoy and best of wishes to Ms. Jensen in continuing to write her heart out!
  • Another great contribution to works about the Aurora universe. Not to say too much to avoid spoilers, but I recognized the type of view the work was immediately but did not see why it was until that was presented near the end. It was very enjoyable to not see that coming. In much of today's SF the plot seems obvious from the first.
  • A wonderful prequel to the Aurora Rhapsody series. Best integration of science and great action alien conflict fiction I've read
  • Kept me on the edge for the entire read. Left me wanting more. loved the unexpected ending. Great job 👍
  • What a great short story with two of my favorite characters in science fiction literature, heck, in any literature. I can't get enough of these books. I even put off reading the last book in the Aurora universe because I didn't want it to end. Enjoy
  • A great pre universe scenario that had me scratching my head until the end. Great action and dynamics all in a few pages.
