- For anyone who loves or hopes to love the Baja, this is the absolutamente mejor resource! Even though it's 10-years old, the information on history, geology, plant taxonomy, climate and eco-systems, culture, people and communities, is as true and dead-on as the day it was first published. In fact, in 10-years, there haven't even been any more miles of road paved as far as I can tell.
In addition to the incredible wealth of historical and contextual information, the 2nd half of the book travels the Carretera Transpeninsular practically mile by mile and gives the reader fantastic things to see and do (including side trips). Again, probably because the Baja seems timeless, most all of these suggestions are still valid and valuable.
You will know the Baja as well as you know your own home town by reading this book cover to cover. - Great source of useful information.
Thanks - This was my first visit to Baja and I found this book to be full of valuable information even though the publication date was 2001. The authors injected humor and great pictures throughout the book. My husband has a long history with Baja and thought he knew the peninsula well but I even found him reading this book and learning things he did not know. By the time we traveled home, this book was dog-eared from use. Thanks so much. Well worth every penny!
- Dated but well worth the purchase. It is nice to read something written by a person who Actually knows the area.
- Not a guidebook in the traditional sense of the word, this is more appropriate for someone interested in the geology and geography of the Baja. It was interesting, but much too detailed. Unrelated to the guidebook, itself, the seller misrepresented the condition of the book. It was literally falling apart. If you're planning to take a month long trip around the peninsula, you might find the book interesting, but I doubt you'd find it very useful.
- Loved it , photos show just how much Baja has changed but a lot of information is still relevant and useful.
