I found this publication very interesting in it's concept. It is a vocabulary builder meant for those who already has had grammar and conversational lessons in Arabic using its alphabet and its pronunciation. There is no English transliteration of the sounds of the words; you only get the English term and the corresponding Arabic word in Arabic script. The book does not use transliteration, but the short vowels are indicated. Words and phrases are grouped in chapters according to subject areas with the appropriate verbs listed at the beginning of each topic. The index do not direct the reader to the appropriate page number but to the chapter numbers which, initially, can be confusing. I do not recommend this book to be used as a phrasebook for travelling unless the user already has a knowledge of Arabic as there is no pronunciation key attached to each word. For my purpose, I find this book very useful as an aide to increase my vocabulary in my Arabic class. The book measures 4 x 5.5 inches and is very portable. I highly recommend it for those who already have an elementary knowledge of Arabic to supplement their vocabulary.
